A child’s second-parent who appears to neither have been adopted by the second-parent nor married to the child’s mother (but they lived as a same-sex couple) was recently dismissed from a civil lawsuit seeking emotional damages after the two year old child that they raised together was struck and killed by a car in front of her according to this article.
