Nepal‘s September 2015 surrogacy ban reduces options for opposite-sex and same-sex couples pursuing reduced cost surrogacy arrangements. ¬† Nepal now joins a list of other developing countries banning surrogacy. ¬†Opponents of Surrogacy cite exploitation of surrogates who are poor with limited-to-no protections and lack of protections for babies rejected by intended parents.
