Anti-Gay Mississippi HB 1523 Statute Challenged in Federal Court

The Campaign for Southern Equality yesterday filed a motion to reopen it’s successful federal lawsuit overturning Mississippi’s ban on gay marriage.   The motion seeks to have HB 1523 – allowing state officials to “recuse” themselves based on certain”sincerely held” religious beliefs from issuing marriage licenses – declared unconstitutional.
