Britain Considers Expanding Law to Recognize Single Parents Utilizing Surrogacy

A single father in the UK argued that he should not have to adopt his biological son born to a Gestational Surrogate in the Untied States with his sperm and a donor egg.  Under the current law in the UK, only married couples may apply for a parental order to be recognized as the legal parents.   This report indicates that the Court agreed with the single father’s argument that the law recognizing parental orders to married couples and not single parents was a violation of human rights.
